I can’t believe it’s 2012 and we’re down to the last two books in the Nightkeeper series! When this series first launched, the end of the Mayan calendar seemed so far away…but here we are, fast approaching 12/21/12, and rooting for the Nightkeepers : modern-day men and women who over the past few years have become magic-wielding superheroes, and are now fighting to save the world with spells that are powered by love, honor and sacrifice.
What were you up to in June of ’08 when the first book came out? How much have things changed for you since then? I know I’ve been through some major upheavals—I moved, explored the wonderful (and not so wonderful) world of online dating, got lucky (ahem, with the online dating, I mean), fell in love, traded horses for mountain bikes (they eat less and do better with time off), and got married (yes, the original anti-wedding girl did the white dress thing). Phew, that’s a lot of changes in a few short years. All good ones, though!
Things are changing for the Nightkeepers, too, except it’s not all good. A magic-wrought virus is sweeping through the countryside and the Nightkeepers need all the help they can get. The new king, Dez, believes that their former servants, the winikin, have the potential to wield magic of their own…but their deep-seated distrust puts pressure on their leader, Cara. When her long-time crush, Sven, returns to the Nightkeepers’ home base of Skywatch and claims he’s a changed man, she can’t afford to be distracted…But then a conniving coyote, a demon outbreak, and a sexy dream-vision conspire to throw Sven and Cara together, and sparks fly!
Welcome to Magic Unchained! I invite you to check in with the Nightkeepers, and join Sven and Cara while they struggle with their enemies—and their feelings each other—as the countdown heads toward the zero date.
I hope to see you soon at Skywatch,
Doc Jess (aka Jessica Andersen)
