Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.
For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…
Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to suffocate her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she’ll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness…

I’m so excited for Shield of Winter to be out! Vasic is a character who has fascinated me since his first appearance on the page, and in this book, we finally get to see beneath the hard black shield of this Arrow – and we get to see into the beating heart of the most mysterious squad in the PsyNet.
Ivy Jane is also a character I love. She’s an empath, and with her, we circle right back to the very first book in the Psy-Changeling series (Slave to Sensation). So many things have happened in the Psy-Changeling world since that first book – some of it has been good, some bad, but the world and the characters have never been static.
That world continues to grow and change in this book, as the Psy attempt to deal with the aftermath of the immense changes in their society. However, this isn’t only a Psy book. The changelings and the humans play just as important a role.
The three races of this world have been splintered for over a hundred years. What happens in Shield of Winter will either pull them back together (or at least begin the process), or it will savagely deepen the fractures. Ivy and Vasic are integral to this process – empath and Arrow, it’s not a pairing anyone could’ve imagined even a year past, and yet their relationship could be a harbinger of staggering change, not only for the squad and the PsyNet, but for the world as a whole.
I truly hope you enjoy going on this journey with them into the future of the Psy-Changeling world.
