Razorbill

Overview

Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers Group, is dedicated to young adult and middle grade books. We are committed to taking risks and exploring new ways to tell stories.

Razorbill’s broad-ranging young adult hardcover fiction list includes Jay Asher’s debut novel, Thirteen Reason Why, a perennial #1 New York Times bestseller and multiple award winner that has been published in 31 languages. Razorbill’s popular series titles include Falling Kingdoms, by New York Times bestselling author Morgan Rhodes, and Richelle Mead’s #1 international bestselling Vampire Academy series, which was adapted for film by the Weinstein Company and stars Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, and Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland. Razorbill is also home to the highly anticipated YA novel An Ember in the Ashes, an epic high fantasy by debut author Sabaa Tahir.

Razorbill also publishes quirky and innovative books, like Rodrigo Corral and Jessica Anthony’s 2012 app of the year award–winning Chopsticks,  and Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer-Camp’s  Marcel the Shell with Shoes On: Things About Me and its upcoming sequel, The Most Surprised I’ve Ever Been. Our nonfiction backlist includes Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Influence, The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider’s Guide to Careers in the Fashion Industry, and Classy, by Derek Blasberg. In fall 2014, Razorbill will publish Rookie Yearbook Three, a visually stunning and thoroughly engaging anthology featuring the best content from Rookiemag.com’s third year, curated by Rookie founder and editor Tavi Gevinson.

Razorbill’s middle-grade titles include Matthew Ward’s The Fantastic Family Whipple, the popular Shark Wars series, and Space Rocks!, from McSweeney’s and New Yorker contributor Tom O’Donnell. Recently, Razorbill published The Creature Department, a collaboration between award-winning author Robert Paul Weston and Framestore, the visual effects company best known for their groundbreaking work on Alfonso Cuarón’s film Gravity.

Look for Razorbill to continue to innovate as it publishes the very best of young adult and middle grade fiction and nonfiction.
