The 75th Anniversary of John Steinbeck’s Pulitzer Prize-winning classic novel The Grapes of Wrath is marked by a number of special events, and NPR has chosen the book for its Book Club pick. Lynn Neary will be discussing the book and its importance on NPR’s Morning Edition (4/14) with Susan Shillinglaw, author of Penguin’s On Reading the Grapes of Wrath and Director of the Center for Steinbeck Studies at San Jose State University. USA TodayThe New York Times and other outlets have been joining in with pieces about the 75th Anniversary.  Viking marks this occasion with the publication of a special hardcover commemorative edition of The Grapes of Wrath today (4/10). Shillinglaw, and Elda Rotor, Associate Publisher and Editorial Director of Penguin Classics, are participating in a Steinbeck event at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC on April 26. Shillinglaw will also participate in a panel on Steinbeck in NYC at the Roosevelt House on April 29. Steinbeck festivities continue with a Steinbeck Festival presented by the Steinbeck Center in Salinas, CA, May 2-4.
