Brian Jacques

Who He Is

Brian Jacques has a wide range of careers; he has been a sailor, actor, stand-up comedian, radio host, boxer, bobby, bus driver, and, of course, a writer. He initially wrote Redwall to entertain children at Liverpool's Royal Wavertree School for the Blind, but little did he know what kind of global success awaited the series. Brian Jacques was recently awarded an honorary doctorate in literature from the University of Liverpool, and has formed a recording company that performs full-cast versions of his novels. He is a lifelong resident of Liverpool, England.

What He Writes

Brian Jacques's Redwall starts the epic series where the forces of good and evil fight for peace. In every book, humble heroes and notoriously nasty villains battle against each other, and, while each book can be read alone, they are all united through the enduring sanctuary of Redwall Abbey throughout the ages.

Why Boys Like Him

Although the characters of the series are animals, they behave as humans and act with courage, bravery, and honor. In addition, Brian Jacques's style of writing is incredibly descriptive and readers feel like they're experiencing the action alongside the characters.
