PENGUIN GROUP (USA) LAUNCHES READ FOR THE HEART™ INITIATIVE IN HONOR OF AMERICAN HEART MONTH

Six Penguin Group (USA) Mass Market Titles from Some of Our Most Beloved Authors, including Wynonna Judd, Catherine Coulter and Nora Roberts Will Feature Read For the Heart™ Seals That Convey Our Support of the Cause

NEW YORK, NY – February 7, 2012—Following in the footsteps of the successful Read Pink™ initiative, Penguin Group (USA) has created a new initiative called Read for the Heart™ in honor of American Heart Month.

Read for the Heart will feature an assortment of six mass market paperback titles by some of Penguin Group (USA)'s most beloved female authors in special Read for the Heart editions that will be available in participating stores beginning today. The authors whose books comprise the initiative are Mary Balogh, Catherine Coulter, Wynonna Judd, Lynn Kurland, Nora Roberts and Bertrice Small, and special editions will be printed featuring Read for the Heart seals on the covers.

In addition, Penguin Group (USA) is including information in the back of each book in an effort to make readers aware of The America Heart Association® and encourage them to become actively involved in supporting the organization.

Penguin Group (USA) also announced a $25,000 donation to The American Heart Association.

"Heart disease is the leading cause of death in American women. Penguin is glad to share the work of The American Heart Association with our readers. We hope this program empowers women to know their risk factors for heart disease and share the risk factors with their friends—just like they would share a good book," said Leslie Gelbman, President of mass market publishing, Penguin Group (USA).

"Penguin's donation of $25,000 allows the American Heart Association to fund a one-year pre-doctoral fellowship to help a medical student begin a career in heart or stroke research—the starting point for all life-saving scientific advances," Mary Ann McLaughlin, MD, President, American Heart Association New York City Board of Directors.
