In the spirit of the theme of this month's edition of The Bird, we are providing this edition in e-book form to allow for reading on the Kindle, Sony Reader, iPhone, iPod Touch and Adobe Digital Editions software.
- Download the .epub file here.
- Make sure you have Adobe Digital Editions installed on your Mac or PC. If you do not have this program, please visit Adobe to download it.
- Simply double click the .epub file you downloaded and it will automatically open with Digital Editions.

- Download the .lrf file here.
- Make sure you have the Connect Reader Program installed on your PC. If you do not have this program, please visit Sony to download it.
- Open the Connect Reader program and click on "Library" in the far left column.
- Click the "File" drop down menu along the top of the window, and select "Import Files".
- Select the file you prepared from its saved location on your computer.
- Connect your Sony Reader to you computer using the USB cord.
- Drag the file to the Reader in the Connect Reader window.
- Click the eject button next to the Reader.
- Disconnect the Reader from your computer.
- Download the .prc file here.
- Turn you kindle on, but leave the wireless switch in the off position.
- Plug the USB port wire into your computer, and then into the Kindle.
- On a PC:
- A yellow dialogue box will pop up in the lower right hand corner of your screen alerting you that a removable storage device is available.
- A box containing three folders (Audible, music, and documents) should pop up automatically–this is your Kindle. If this doesn't happen, open the "My Computer" icon and select drive labeled "Kindle":
- Drag the file you prepared from its saved location on your computer and drop it into the documents folder in the Kindle window.
- To eject the Kindle from your computer, right click on the green, gray, and red storage device icon from the menu in the start-up toolbar on the bottom left of your computer screen and it will offer you the option to "safely remove storage device." Select this option.
- This will activate a box listing the storage device, use your mouse to highlight the name of the device in the list and click on the stop button.
- This will activate yet another box and click on the OK button.
- Check your Kindle to make sure that the silver dots in the selection bar on the far left side have stopped swirling (the bar should be blank). It is now safe to unplug the USB cord.
- If you hit the HOME button on your Kindle, the document you uploaded should be listed.
- On a Mac:
- A drive labeled "Kindle" will appear on your desktop.
- Drag the file you prepared from its saved location on your computer and drop it into the documents folder in the Kindle window.
- Hold control and click the Kindle Drive on your desktop and select "Eject Kindle"
- Check your Kindle to make sure that the silver dots in the selection bar on the far left side have stopped swirling (the bar should be blank). It is now safe to unplug the USB cord.
- If you hit the HOME button on your Kindle, the document you uploaded should be listed.
