Tinker
Overview
Every workshop needs somebody tinkering with things. At Penguin Workshop, that’s us.
Tinker is the shop floor where we build the books that don’t sit still: with moving parts, pop-up alphabets, accordions that unfold across the rug, die-cuts you can look clean through, and more. Each one starts with one question: “What if the book could do this?”
As young readers explore our books—turning, pulling, matching, searching, naming, counting—every interaction encourages curiosity and delight, helping build early literacy, fine-motor skills, and the developmental milestones that come with discovering how the world works.
To tinker is to mess with something, take it apart, try it a different way, and end up somewhere you didn’t plan. It’s what we do at the drawing board, and it’s what a kid does on the floor with a book in both hands. We build books and let kids take it from there.
Tinker: books built for play.
