Lynn Portnoff, VP and Executive Art Director of Penguin Workshop, Rise, and Tinker
Lynn Portnoff is the VP and Executive Art Director of Penguin Workshop, Rise, and Tinker. She has been with Workshop since 2014 and oversees a team of talented art directors and designers to bring our books, which come in all formats for ages zero to teen, to life.
Lynn has designed several New York Times bestselling picture books, such as Tori and the Muses by Tori Amos and illustrated by Demelsa Haughton, Dolly Parton’s Billy the Kid Makes It Big coauthored by Erica S. Perl and illustrated by MacKenzie Haley, and Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers’s The Crayons’ Christmas. She has designed for the New York Times bestselling Who HQ series, for which she is now the art director. Lynn was also the designer of the welcome book for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, The Little Engine That Could: 90th Anniversary Edition illustrated by Dan Santat.
Lynn holds a BFA in Visual Communication from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is drawn to artists who combine their unique artistry that adds to the book’s narrative with commercial appeal. Lynn believes that “commercial” simply means more books are in the hands of readers, and who doesn’t want that. Follow her on Instagram @lynnpo.
